Yale-New Haven Hospital (YNHH)
In affiliation with Yale University School of Medicine, YNHH represents one of the nation’s oldest and most respected medical research centers with over 175 years of Ivy League graduate medical education.
YNHH merged with the Hospital of St Raphael in 2012 and the combined institution has 1541 inpatient beds, making it the 5th largest hospital in the United States.
Recognized by U.S. News and World Report as a top hospital year after year, YNHH’s faculty and community physicians practice in more than 100 specialties. The hospital has a level one trauma center, comprehensive transplant center, and both a certified heart and stroke center. The medical center also includes Smilow Cancer Hospital and its affiliated Yale Cancer Center, one of only 41 NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the U.S., and the largest between New York and Boston.
VA Connecticut Healthcare System
VA Connecticut Healthcare System serves veterans in Connecticut and southern New England. Affiliated with both Yale Medical School and UCONN Medical School, it is a teaching hospital providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology and a renowned research program that receives over $44 million in research funding.
The Hospital of Central Connecticut
The Hospital of Central Connecticut is a 414-bed acute-care hospital with its main campus in New Britain. As a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, the hospital provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services in general medicine and surgery, as well as a wide variety of specialties.
MidState Medical Center
MidState Medical Center is a 156-bed acute-care community hospital. The Connecticut Orthopedic Institute is an entire pavilion of the Medical Center that was renovated and repurposed expressly to meet the needs of orthopaedic patients. The Institute includes 11 operating rooms and 21 all-private patient rooms that feel more like high-end hotel rooms than a hospital, with design amenities incorporated to achieve a calming and healing environment.
